Leonard Anderson & Walter Christie display tank at WashingtonLeonard Anderson, father of Lodi Historical Society trustee Doris White, moved his family to the hamlet of Caywood from New Jersey around 1949. Anderson is at right in this photo of a tank being demonstrated in Washington (c. 1940s) by engineer and inventor J. Walter Christie. Anderson, a machinist, worked with Christie as he tried for many years to interest U.S. military officials in his tank designs. (photo courtesy of Doris Anderson White) |
